7th Grade Lesson PlansWeek of March 11-15
Monday, 3/11/13
  • Introduce Unit 7 Part 1 words-- take pretest; correct answers together
  • Review Friday's reading of "Race Against Death" in SCOPE Magazine
    • Evidence to support the setting (Time & Place)?
    • How does setting affect the conflict?
    • What IS the conflict?
    • What efforts are being made to resolve the conflict? Who are our "key" people involved in this effort?
  • Finish reading "Race Against Death" out loud with the class.
  • Distribute handouts.
  • Students will take the Comprehension Check "Quiz" Questions #1-8 WITHOUT referring back to the passage.
  • Next, Students will begin completing the Critical Thinking (OAA- formatted) questions AND the "Read, Think, Explain" handout using the passage as reference and for support.
  • Lastly, students will revisit their original comprehension check "quiz" and update/change answers if they want to. They will also complete #8-10.
  • HW: Word Wisdom U7P1 pages 138-143 all due Thursday. No class on Wednesday due to CVCC field trip.

Tuesday, 3/11/13
  • Return and discuss questions and results from Watsons unit test with students.
  • Continue and finish Critical thinking questions for "Race Against Death" from yesterday
  • HW: Word Wisdom pgs 138-143 due Thursday; Posttest on Friday

Wednesday, 3/12/13
  • 7th graders are attending the field trip to CVCC and will not be attending regular classes today.

Thursday, 3/13/13
  • Stamp WW pgs 138-143 for completion; correct answers in class with a student leader
  • Finish "Race Against Death" questions.
  • O.A.A. "FAQ" (Frequently asked Questions) discussion--who, what, when, where, why.
  • Briefly discuss upcoming research paper (to begin after Spring Break)
  • HW: Study for WW posttest tomorrow over Unit 7 Part 1

Friday, 3/14/13
  • Take U7P1 posttest--correct answers together in class, if time.
  • Discuss "Race Against Death" answers.
  • Watch Balto: American Hero from Alaska (Documentary)
